East Egg vs. West Egg

East and West egg are two different places but they are both very identical. East and West egg are "separated only by a courtesy bay(5)". this bay represents the people of east and west egg and how they are separated by little differences such as how they get their money and their personality towards others. Nick says that East egg and west egg "are not perfect ovals they are both crush flat at the contact end(5)". This quote deals with the geography of the two eggs and there similarity and it symbolizes the similarities in personality.

East egg is a group of people who have had their money all of their lives and never had to work for their money. They are fashionable and egotistic people that do not accept west egg because they feel more superior to them. West egg are people who are newly rich and they had to work hard to get where they are at today. West egg people want to be on the level and class as East egg people. Both eggs are people with a lot of money but they differ by the way they get there money and how it affects them.
