The Great Gatsby film versions
The Great Gatsby film versions are good films that represent the book very well. The movie gives you a picture of what the scene could look like, which is fairly pleasing to the eye. As a reader of the book you get to see the old styles of clothing and cars that were used in the 1920s. The Movie also comes very close with the the lines each character says and what Nick is thinking about throughout this magnificent story.
The Great Gatsby film version also shows off what you would think the characters would look like for the most part. Paul Rudd is the perfect Nick character. He has all of the same qualities as nick and he plays the role very well. another character that comes close is Toby Stephens as Jay Gatsby. He has that smile that you would imagine Gatsby to have. The film version of The Great Gatsby does an all around good job with the book and i would recommend it as a rental.

The Men of Gatsby
There is alot of different types of men in the Gatsby. There is Tom the tough cheating rich man who went to Yale. Then there is Nick the somewhat poor man who is very independent and an all around good man. Gatsby is another fellow who gets his money through illegal ways in order to win his lover back into his own heart. All of these men are very different within the Great Gatsby.
Typically the men in Gatsby are rich men. These men usually work themselves to death or they cheat to get to the top. Most of the men in Gatsby are also very egotistic as well. They usually only care about themselves and if anything they will care for there family, but anything outside they do not really care about them. Most of the rich men in Gatsby feel that people who make less money are worthless and that they really dont matter in the world. These are the types of men in Gatsby.

Jealousy
In the book, The Great Gatsby there is a lot of jealousy between people. Not only in the book was there a lot of jealousy but in the 1920s was the time of jealousy. Everyone would try to out do and be better then the rest which created drama between a lot of people back in those days. This also shows and refleacts in the Great Gatsby. Tom Daisy's husband shows his jealousy of Gatsby by thinking his just a bootlegger and nothing he says he does is true. Tom ends up investigating in Gatsby and his buisness and soon fineds out the truth about him. There is also issue over money in the book and the fact that it brings jealousy to a lot of people but in the end it doesnt truely buy happieness. The way Daisy marries Tom because of his money but is still never over Gatsby shows the way money is involed in the story and how in the end Daisy ends up falling back in love with Gatsby.

The Green Light
The green light in The Great Gatsby is the light on Daisys dock. The light has a lot to do with the book and the setting. It also is a nother simbol out of many in the book. The reason Gatsby lives where he does is because across the bay he can see Daisys house. This shows how obsessed he is with Daisy and has never got over her. The light also represents the past and future that him and Daisy have had." But the green light also represents the hazy future, the future that is forever elusive, as Nick claims in the last page of the novel, "Gatsby believed in the green light, the orgastic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that’s no matter – to-morrow we will run farther, stretch out our arms farther…." (1) Gatsby believes that every day that goes by that him and Daisy will grow closer together and hopefuly be able to be in a relationship.

The Women of Gatsby
The women of Gatsby seem to be very selfish, spoiled, and egotistic. They do not really care about other people or else they would not go around town and fool around with a bunch of guys and get intoxicated. The women of Gatsby are given everything in the world it seems like. They have tons of jewelery, a big house and extravagant life styles. They walk around as if they are the greatest person ever and someone should bow down to them constantly.
The main women of Gatsby are Daisy Buchanan, Jordan Baker, and Myrtle Wilson. They are all flawed in there personalities. Daisy cheats on Tom with Gatsby. Jordan baker cheats at her golf tournaments so she could win. Myrtle Is going out with Tom Daisies wife and she gets pampered by tom every time they meet each other. Obviously these girls have some issues and they need to be fixed but they probably wont be fixed because they are rotten, money sucking, self centered people.

Selfish people
Who are selfish people? Selfish people are people who only do things for themselves and do not care for the well beings of others around them. These kinds of people will hurt others to get what they really want for example they will sabotage a system so that they can get money not caring if it will hurt other peoples money problems. some type of selfish people are business men, criminals, or movie stars. These people can be selfish because all of there success or failures has made them think of them as the best or as if no one else matters as long is they get what they want.
In the Great Gatsby most of the people are very selfish especially in east egg. Tom is cheating on his wife so that he can get some fun. Tom does not care for his wives feelings because he would just leave in the middle of lunch to go talk to his other girl. Tom also expects people to live up to a certain standard that even he doesnt live up to making him a very selfish person.

Dan Cody
Dan Cody was a very good friend of Gatsby and was very kind and nice. Gatsby trusted Dan very well and they were always there for each other. The way the two meet was when, “Dan Cody's yacht dropped anchor over the most "insidious flat" on Lake Superior. When Gatsby saw this, he borrowed a rowboat, and pulled out to where Cody was on the water and warned him that the "wind might catch him and break him up in half an hour."(1) This also shows Dan’s wealth and the kindness of Gatsby. The two ended up sailing around the world together over the next five years after they had meet. Dan also had a serious drinking problem that made Gatsby not want to drink, “Gatsby chose then to abstain from alcohol forever after witnessing the destructive behaviors of Cody during his periods of drunkenness.”(2) When Dan Cody past away from unknown causes he willed Gatsby 2500 dollars. But Dan’s girlfriend ended up getting it instead in court.
